About us Grace Potter being interviewed at a festival
Music Media Collective was founded to fill the growing void left by the disappearance of independent, community-driven music media. As local outlets shut down and corporate consolidation grows, artists, venues, and fans are losing essential tools for discovery, storytelling, and connection. This decline doesn’t just impact culture. It puts livelihoods at risk across the music ecosystem.
We’re responding by building a collective framework designed for and by music media professionals. From journalists and radio hosts to podcasters, publicists, photographers, and creators, MMC supports the people behind the coverage. Through shared resources, direct support, and collaborative programming, our goal is to restore access, visibility, and opportunity across the media landscape.

As a hybrid nonprofit and for-profit organization, we combine values-driven mission work with the flexibility to build innovative platforms, content, and programming. This includes our flagship initiatives:

  • Asses in Seats, a live music talk show
  • Legacy and Legends, an event and interview series
  • Cratedigr, a fan-powered platform for live music reviews and artist discovery

Music media cannot do this alone. We are working with artists, venues, and industry allies to strengthen the entire ecosystem, because the survival of the industry is a community effort, not a solo act.

To keep this mission grounded in the real needs of our community, we are building a structured board and advisory group made up of professionals across journalism, radio, publicity, grantmaking, and content creation. Our collective model is rooted in transparency, inclusion, and shared leadership, with ongoing opportunities for involvement through membership, town halls, think tanks, and live events.

We’re not just preserving music media. We’re rebuilding it from the ground up by creating access, fueling creative communities, and putting power back in the hands of artists, venues, and cultural storytellers.

Legacy & Legends

A live event series spotlighting iconic artists and industry changemakers. These audience-interactive, educational, and entertaining events double as fundraisers, supporting nonprofit initiatives while celebrating music’s past, present, and future. We collaborate with music media outlets on each event, inviting them to participate in programming efforts and as moderators, hosts, or panelists. We build the framework for this series to also work as a turnkey package, allowing outlets to host Legacy and Legends events in their communities with the assistance of MMC, providing production tools, financial resources, marketing assets, and promotion.
